Travel stories Pulse Sensing Beringharjo, DI Yogyakarta from Indonesia

Beringharjo still a major shopping destination for those who come to Yogyakarta. Although at Jalan Malioboro there are also many batik and souvenir shops, but they still can not match the Beringharjo market.

At the weekend, the halls of batik sellers on the ground floor of this market will definitely overcrowded. You must be prepared to jostle with batik vendors that offer wares - also by two flow of visitors who shop in the narrow alleys.

In this market, you can shop from batik ready-made (either in the form of cloth, stamp or write). Various batik motifs like Lasem, Madura, Bantul also available. Even casual wear, house dresses, baggy pants, to dresses and formal batik shirts can also be searched.

One of the places that could be an option is Soenardi batik outlets. They had two los on the ground floor of this market; one in the south of the market and another in the north. Both los that provide different collections. Batik fabrics are sold for Rp 110 thousand, while the cap is sold ranging from Rp 70 thousand.

If you want to find batik Bantul (which is always dark brown with white fabric remnants left), there is a special kiosk selling it. Unfortunately, these kiosks are not named or numbered. To get this kiosk, enter from the main entrance at the front of the market and turn left at the fifth alley. Bantul typical batik stall will be on your left side, guarded by two old mother berkebaya, cloth and bun.

You just choose from a variety of classical motifs such as sidomukti, kawung, machetes and galaran. Per pieces of batik cloth sold for Rp 65 thousand. Bantul typical batik sellers proudly say, they do not sell batik in their stalls.

On the third floor of the market, you will find bags woven from water hyacinth. Design and coloring is quite modern and stylish. Small bag that can carry a wallet and a cell phone and other trinkets already you can get a price of Rp 15 thousand.

If antiques are your interest, go to the northern part of the market. Ancient coins (bump) also sold per package ranging from Rp 15 thousand, depending on its rarity. There, kitchen accessories such as a coffee grinder can you get a bargain price. In addition, there are still dry spices, assorted herbs, various accessories wedding dress, to snacks such as cendol and satay lard (fat) that the fragrance spread in the halls of the market.
